Equity investors cautiously ducked cover on Tuesday ahead of US inflation numbers. Around noon, the leading index Dax rose by 0.73 percent to 14,411.66 points. The MDax recently increased by 0.68 percent to 25,660.35 points. The leading eurozone index, the EuroStoxx 50, rose by 0.8 percent. In New York, the Dow Jones index had already risen by 1.6 percent the previous evening.
When the US inflation rate was published on Tuesday, a further decline in the high inflation was expected. This would give the US Federal Reserve reason to hope that inflation has peaked. The US currency watchdogs are expecting a slightly smaller rate hike than last of 0.50 percentage points on Wednesday.
In Germany, Lufthansa caused a stir with a further upgraded outlook. The stock rose 3.7 percent to its highest level in months. Only in October was the forecast doubled to more than one billion. Together with Lufthansa, Fraport also moved positively into the limelight. Here the titles rose by 2.3 percent.
