The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have suffered their third competitive game defeat within a few days. In the Euroleague, the weakened team of coach Andrea Trinchieri was defeated by title contenders Real Madrid on Tuesday by a narrow margin of 64:68 (39:42) and is in the lower half of the table with a record of 4:9 wins.

After an early 3:9 deficit, the hosts quickly got back into the game. Led by Corey Walden and Othello Hunter, the Munich team was 22:21 ahead after the first quarter and extended their lead to 32:27 by the 13th minute. But Real Madrid responded to the good Bayern phase: Thanks to the outstanding Cape Verdean center Walter Tavares, the Spaniards went into the break with a three-point lead.

The Munich team followed the narrow deficit in the third quarter (50:54/30.), but came back in an exciting final round (57:56/32.). A minute before the end, the Spaniards looked like the sure winner at 66:58, then Bayern shortened with a 6:0 run. However, the hosts could not turn the game. The best marksmen from Munich were Hunter with 14 points and Walden with 11 points.

On Thursday (8.30 p.m./Magentasport) Bayern will continue against Valencia BC against the next Spanish club in the premier class.
