The third “TV total Autoball WM” will take place on December 16 (8:15 p.m. live on ProSieben). Two days before the final of the 2022 World Cup, celebrities will once again get behind the wheel and try to maneuver a car to maneuver a big ball into the goal. Steven Gätjen (50) and Andrea Kaiser (40) will present the event in the Arena in Hanover. Kaiser’s husband, rally star Sébastien Ogier (38), is in the car as a participant for France. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the couple talks about their double job and Ogier’s supposed role as favourite. Kaiser also reveals the recipe for her marriage of eight years ago and reports on how the family spends Christmas.

Andrea Kaiser: In 2014 I watched the “TV total Autoball WM” in front of the television – just as I actually loved and watched all “TV total” events. That was always an event! That was the campfire on TV, in a cool way. And that I’m allowed to be there now, that’s really awesome for me. I don’t think in the last five to ten years I’ve never been as excited as I will be now on Friday.

Kaiser: The field of riders is really sensational. This also shows the value of the event. We have a former national soccer player with us, we have an eight-time world rally champion, we have a fiery fitness coach in Fernanda Brandao, we have Rúrik, who is an A with a star both in football and in appearance. We’ll find out if he can drive a car. And I’m looking forward to Sebastian Pufpaff. He gets along pretty well with bikes when he’s not breaking his ribs. Let’s see how he copes with four wheels.

Kaiser: If it were only about driving, I would say: my husband is definitely a favorite. But there is also a ball and the ball has to go into the goal and there is also an opponent. He doesn’t even know that. And I’m very excited about that. Let’s put it this way: My husband is definitely very ambitious, but will he win? No idea.

Sébastien Ogier: My wife showed me a video of the “TV total Autoball World Cup 2014” and I don’t usually take part in such events. But when she showed me the video, all I had was one question, and that was, “Do I have a handbrake? If I have a handbrake, I want it!” Because it really looked like a lot of fun and a really good show.

Ogier: It is definitely an advantage to drive a car more often and to be able to drive well. My biggest advantage for sure is that I never compete to finish second. I’m very ambitious and I’ll see what’s in there.

Ogier: I think the fact that my wife moderates is more of a disadvantage for me. Because she knows me extremely well and will certainly ask me the tougher questions and be cheekier than she would be with anyone else.

Kaiser: I’m definitely impartial. Even if I married a Frenchman, I’m not a France fan. To be honest, I would really like a world title for Germany. After the World Cup in Qatar, which was a disaster, at least a world title would be something very nice. And if we don’t make it, I would stand up for girl power and Fernanda Brandao. I think my husband tends to have a hard time with me because I’m the most critical of him. I know him best.

Kaiser: Our son would of course have been very happy to come along. But he’s six years old and he usually goes to bed at 8 p.m. And the show will definitely go past midnight. In this respect, he can watch it at home with grandma in front of the television until he falls asleep. Of course he thinks it’s great.

Kaiser: My husband normally drives at 200 km/h through the forest over ice and snow. I’m not worried about Friday because I know he’s a good driver. I didn’t think about whether he could hurt himself at the “TV total Autoball WM”. I’m more worried about hurting myself. I hope no one runs over my foot. (laughs)

Kaiser: I think the recipe for a good marriage is first and foremost that you keep private things private. The fact that we are together in front of a camera is an exception. But if you are always tempted to perform, to present yourself, to present a love – on social media or in some documentary format – it becomes difficult. We’ve never had a home story before. I don’t hide my husband and he doesn’t hide me. We have a son together and we are happy. But I don’t think it’s healthy if you have to do something like that all the time. That would be what I would say: that you protect the relationship by taking care of it and not constantly presenting it and not selling it.

Kaiser: I watched the World Cup. I’ll probably watch it to the end as well, for professional reasons alone. I’m allowed to moderate the Bundesliga start for Sat.1. However, I didn’t get football fever. I think it was a mistake that the World Cup went to Qatar. Russia was wrong too. What we now see and feel more directly. And Qatar was a big mistake. That’s why I’m very happy that I made an agreement with my bosses that I no longer have to/should/may not work in countries that respect neither freedom of the press nor human rights, we don’t even have to talk about women’s rights. In this respect, I find it very critical and very difficult. The footballers are the least to blame. It’s their job to play there and be there. If one says “no”, then he is replaced by another. That would have been the task of the DFB and, above all, of politics.

Kaiser: Christmas is celebrated with the whole family: we celebrate together with my mum, my aunt and my uncle and of course my husband in Kitzbühel in the mountains. Really nice with a Christmas tree, kitsch and co. But if it were up to me, I would love to go somewhere nice and warm on December 25th, but my son and my husband love skiing. It’s two against one. And that’s why I spend my winter in the snow.

Kaiser: I only wish one thing for the new year: that we finally get another year that is not determined by Corona, by a pandemic, by fears about wars. I just wish for a year of confidence, charity and happiness. As stupid as that sounds. In the past, “world peace” was always an empty phrase. I really want world peace. And of course health for all people who are dear and important to me.

Ogier: Nice trips would be great and of course I wish that everyone stays healthy. No amount of money in the world can buy health. That’s why we should all always remember to be thankful for being healthy.
