Between Salzburg and Sylt from the 4. July on an overnight train ride. Twice weekly, the Hamburg-based railroad company RDC will bring to September’s own trains as the “Alps-Sylt-night Express” in both directions on the Rail, reported the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”.
The route will go via Prien am Chiemsee, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Husum and connect several major cities with holiday regions in the South and the North of Germany. RDC also operates the car train to Sylt.

rail passengers can currently choose between a number of IC Connections to the island of Sylt: Sylt trains per day travelling from Dresden (via Berlin), Frankfurt, Cologne, (via Bremen) and the Karlsruhe, Germany (via Frankfurt and Hannover). - days ‘ journey from the island of Sylt in the direction of the South: Thursdays and Saturdays.
- days ‘ journey from Salzburg in the direction of the North: Fridays and Sundays. Arrival on the following day.
The ticket includes the entire compartment, couchette included. Up to five family members and friends you can bring at no extra charge.
The Deutsche Bahn had thinned her night train network a few years ago in Germany. Three years ago, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) took over the loss-making DB-night train business. Up to the year 2026, the ÖBB-Nightjet-level operation to be expanded.
