First call The Argentine team will face the Czech Republic at home on March 4th and 5th at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis as part of the qualifying round to the final phase in the 2022 edition. The Magician has identified five tennis players: Diego Schwartzman; Federico Delbonis; Horacio Zeballos; Maximo Gonzalez and Sebastian Baez. Juan Martin Del Potro could be added to the team in the near future.
Peque Schwartzman will be the leader of the team, and the 14th best in the world. Azuleno de Bonis (41st), will also return to the team. Baez, 21 years old, is the debut of one of the most prominent players in Argentine tennis. Current ranking: 77th in world rankings

Delbonis’ last match at Davis was November 27, 2016, when he defeated Croatian Ivo Karovic in Zagreb to secure the historic fifth point, which allowed Argentina to win its first ever Silver Salad Bowl.
The team also includes Zeballos, Mar del Plata’s “top ten” tennis player from his sixth place in doubles world rankings, and Machi Gonzalez from Tandil, who are both top ten from their sixth place.
Coria will be making her debut as captain in the series against Czechs. Between 2004 and 2005, the former world number three was part of four Davis keys.

The story is that Argentina was unable to beat the Czechs in six encounters they registered for the maximum tennis tournament at national team level.
It was 5-0 on March 2005 at the Lawn Tennis Club, Buenos Aires for the first round in the World Group. Points were provided by Agustin Caleri, Mago Canas, Guillermo Canas, David Nalbandian and Guillermo Canas, who were the last two protagonists in the doubles.
The Czechs won the rest of the record: 3-2 (Buenos Aires 1980), 5-0 (Prague 1987), 3-2 (Ostrava 2009), 3-2 (Ostrava 2009), 3-2 (Prague 2013) and 3-2 (Buenos Aires 2012).

Jiri Vesely is currently the Czech team’s only top 100.
Czech singles’ second player is Tomas Machac (116th), while Roman Jebavy (88th) is the best doubles player.
