Houston Rockets little forward Sterling Brown suffered facial lacerations through an attack Sunday night, the group stated.
He’s expected to make a complete recovery, according to the team.
Brown is using the group but had been ruled out for the match because of a knee injury.
“Heart-wrenching. Rips your heart out,” Houston coach Stephen Silas stated ahead of the match. “It is one of your men, someone in your staff that you care for, somebody that you are with daily. As much as how I am feeling and the way the staff is feeling, we are all just grateful, No. 1, which he is going to be OK — and down about what occurred.”
It was not immediately known if any other incident reports were filed with authorities. The NBA said that it had been collecting information about the episode and was optimistic Brown makes a complete recovery.
He’d spent the past 3 seasons with all the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 5.2 points and 3.1 rebounds.
In Milwaukee, Brown was thrust into the national spotlight when he declared that police officers targeted him out a Walgreens store on Jan. 26, 2018. He declared that Milwaukee officers targeted him because he’s Black. They used a stun gun when he did not instantly remove his hands out of his pockets ordered to while waiting to get a parking citation.
Brown first filed a lawsuit against the city of Milwaukee at June 2018 following body-camera footage has been released showing a police officer knocking onto his arm during the arrest while some others resisted his possible civil rights criticism.
Brown reached a $750,000 settlement with the town in November.
