NFL cornerback Richard Sherman broke off his silence after his arrest on Wednesday. He posted a statement to social media, stating that he was “deeply sorry” and would seek treatment for his “mental & emotional health.”
Sherman, 33, issued a statement Friday after the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced that he would face five criminal charges including driving under the influences and two domestic violence-related misdemeanors. He was arrested outside the Redmond home of his in-laws.
“I am deeply sorry for the actions I took Tuesday night. “I behaved in an unacceptable manner,” wrote the ex-Seahawks star. “It is true that I have had some personal difficulties over the past few months. However, it does not excuse how I acted.”
He said, “The importance and importance of mental and psychological health is very real and I promise to get the help that I need.” “I am grateful for all the support that has been extended to me and my family by Seattle’s community. It is a blessing to have such a wonderful wife, family, and support system during this difficult time.
Sherman’s admission to having had mental health problems is not new.
In a Yahoo Finance interview, the ex-San Francisco 49er appealed to Yahoo Finance in June to “address the issue”.
Sherman stated that Sherman believed mental health had been a major issue for a long time. It was time to address it. The pandemic did a remarkable job of forcing people to reflect on their thoughts and mental health.
Sherman acknowledged that improving mental health is a difficult task, at least for the NFL, and that social networking has played an important role in this.
Sherman stated, “It’s difficult because these industry are so old.” Sherman said, “And they’ve done it a certain way for so many years that it’s hard for them to change.” They are so rigid in how they deliver sports to consumers and how the consumer engages with them.”
Sherman was released on Thursday without bail after being arrested the day before on charges related two separate incidents, which included a single vehicle car accident and an attempted residential burglary.
ESPN reported that he will be returning to court Friday afternoon to plead not guilty.
