“We went off in February in Cartagena in Spain, and after 34 days in Barbados,” says Skipper Ufuk Türkes in the Video, that Silent Yachts has just released. We learned about it in 2018, the Cannes Yachting Festival, as we were for the first Time on Board a Silent. Türkes told us at the time of his Atlantic crossing.

A crossing of the Atlantic ocean is actually nothing particularly more, when you consider how many boats a year across the ocean drive. But this ocean crossing was an absolute novelty: The Silent 64 was the first mass-produced solar yacht in the world which crossed the Atlantic – mainly to solar powered energy.

Almost silently, they drove day and night, only the waves and the Wind in the ears. They were four of us, the owners with family and Ufuk as a Skipper, chef and fisherman. If the sun was shining, they had to be sufficient energy to also at night without the Generator at the reduced speed. The on-Board power was enough sunlight for the washing machine, the stove, the microwave and other small appliances on Board.
