The Spanish footballers have won the first edition of the Nations League. In the final in Seville, the world champion won 2-0 (1-0) against Germany’s semi-final conqueror France.

World footballer Aitana Bonmatí (32nd minute) and Mariona Caldentey (53rd) shot coach Montse Tomé’s team to the title. For the Spaniards it was their first ever win against France after 13 unsuccessful attempts.

In the semi-finals, the team led by captain Irene Paredes defeated the Netherlands 3-0 and thus already secured their ticket to the Olympics. France is already set to host the Summer Games in Paris.

The Netherlands and Germany will play for the third Olympic place for a European team on Wednesday evening.
