World champion Laura Nolte won the Monobob World Cup in Altenberg, Saxony.
The two-man Olympic champion from BSC Winterberg drove past the leading US pilot Elana Meyers Taylor in the second run and was 0.23 seconds ahead after two runs. Lisa Buckwitz from BRC Thuringia, who already has four wins this season and continues to lead the overall World Cup, came third. Maureen Zimmer from BSC Sachsen Oberbärenburg came in sixth.
“I’m very satisfied that I was able to do that well with the conditions here and that the monobob is going in the right direction,” said Nolte, who with her first win of the season in this discipline with 1355 points is closer to overall leader Buckwitz (1468 ) approaches. The World Cup finals are in Lake Placid in mid-March. “Forgiving end, I didn’t get out of the nine so well twice. The straight is particularly important in the mono, I didn’t hit it twice,” said Buckwitz.
