Great sadness in the football community: Young hope Devin Willock died in a car accident. The University of Georgia football team has confirmed the player’s death. The offensive lineman was out and about in the city of Athens with three other people around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday morning when the tragic accident occurred.

“Our hearts are broken. Devin was a great teammate, always had a smile on his face and was a pleasure to coach,” said his coach Kirby Smart. As the local police announced, the young player died immediately after the accident. He was 20 years old.

In addition to Willock, the driver of the accident car also died: Chandler LeCroy (24), a member of the team. She was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, but succumbed to her injuries. Two other inmates and team members, a 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, survived with serious injuries. Both victims are now stable, according to a statement from the university.

“The entire Bulldogs family is devastated by this tragic loss,” the statement said. “Devin and Chandler were two very special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia and our football program.” The university will provide all those involved with all medical and psychological help: “We will not make any further comments for the time being and ask that you pray for all those involved, the victims and their families.”
