Olympic tennis champion Alexander Zverev was satisfied with his performance in the second round victory in Indian Wells. “I think the match was solid. It wasn’t the highest level from me, but I can be satisfied. Of course it’s getting more difficult now,” said Zverev. “I had a few fluctuations in concentration, but that’s normal at the beginning of the tournament.”
The 26-year-old from Hamburg won his opening match against Christopher O’Connell from Australia 6:4, 6:4. In the first round, Zverev, seeded number six, had a bye. Next he will face the Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, who won 6:3, 6:3 against Yannick Hanfmann from Weinheim, in the hard court tournament worth 12.4 million US dollars (approx. 11.4 million euros).
One round further is Jan-Lennard Struff, who defeated the Croatian Borna Coric in a close match 6:7 (3:6), 6:2, 7:6 (11:9). Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner from Italy, seeded number three, will be waiting in the next round.
