The former tennis world number one Carlos Alcaraz has reported back after his injury break with a tournament victory on the ATP tour.
The 19-year-old Spaniard easily won the final of the tournament in Buenos Aires 6-3, 7-5 against Great Britain’s Cameron Norrie. Alcaraz had to pause for around three months due to an injury to his abdominal muscles and a muscle injury in his right leg and only made his comeback at the tournament in Argentina.
The US Open winner also missed the Australian Open in Melbourne earlier this year due to his injury. The success in Buenos Aires was Alcaraz’s seventh title overall on the ATP tour and his first this year. “I felt very comfortable in the final,” said Alcaraz after beating Norrie. “I was very focused on what I had to do, my level, my game. That’s how I have to play in finals.”
