FC Barcelona players will wear jerseys with the owl emblem of Canadian rapper Drake in Sunday’s Clásico against Real Madrid as part of the sponsorship deal with the music streaming service Spotify. This is part of the agreement, which is about combining football and music, the club announced on its website on Friday. The fact that a lot of money is involved was not specifically mentioned.

Drake’s emblem was chosen because his songs surpassed the record 50 billion streams on Spotify. FC Barcelona, which is heavily indebted at 1.35 billion euros, is urgently dependent on the sponsor payments from the Swedish company.

The Catalan club won Spotify as sponsors in March. The stadium in Barcelona was also renamed “Spotify Camp Nou”. The men’s and women’s teams of Barça will also initially play with the Swedish company’s lettering on their jerseys until the summer of 2026.

The club announced that special campaigns like the one with Drake will now also be more frequent. The financial terms of the sponsorship deal were not disclosed. However, the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” and other media reported in March that the club should receive 65 to 70 million euros for each of the next four seasons.
