Goalscorer Erling Haaland was delighted with the good start to the Premier League season and his brace for Manchester City. “A fantastic start to a difficult encounter,” said the Norwegian after beating newly promoted Burnley 3-0. “It was important that we start like this.”
Haaland scored the first goal of the season for the champions, FA Cup winners and Champions League winners from close range in the fourth minute. The Norwegian scored his second goal of the season with a shot at the bottom of the bar in the 36th minute. Rodri marked the final score in the 75th minute.
Kevin de Bruyne had to leave the field
“We are the treble winners, so people want to win even more against us,” emphasized Haaland. He doesn’t want to think too much about his two goals, “the most important thing is that we play well as a team and get the three points.”
The injury to Kevin de Bruyne, who had to leave the field in the first half, was unfortunate for Manchester. “We’ll be missing him for a while,” said coach Pep Guadiola after the game. The Belgian had just returned from a thigh injury sustained in the Champions League final and is believed to have been injured again there. Josko Gvardiol, who came from RB Leipzig, made his debut for City in the second half.
