VfL Wolfsburg are rumored to be interested in West Ham United’s Maxwel Cornet. In the past, the Franco-Ivorian has been on the Lower Saxony list twice.
As the Bild newspaper reports, Cornet could switch to the wolves on loan in the winter. At the moment, the winger hardly gets a chance at the Hammers. Coach David Moyes is unhappy with the 26-year-old’s training performance and has only used him for 86 minutes of the Premier League season so far.
The wolves, on the other hand, need reinforcements on the flanks and already had Cornet on their list twice. In 2018, a transfer was as good as dry cloths, but failed at the last second due to the veto of the club bosses of Cornet’s former club Olympique Lyon. Since then, VfL have worked at least once more on transferring the left foot, according to the picture.
Cornet’s contract at West Ham runs until 2027. There is also an option for a further year. The attacker had just moved from relegated Burnley FC to east London before the season for 20 million. At Burnley, Cornet was one of the bright spots of last season, scoring nine goals in 26 games.
However, the rumors about Cornet contradict an article in Sport Bild from the beginning of October. Accordingly, VfL does not want to look for a winger in winter, but rather a central defender, an outside defender and a central midfielder.
