Norwegian cross-country star Johannes Klaebo is chasing the stage win record set by Russian Sergei Ustyugow in the Tour de Ski.

Klaebo also won the fourth stage of the 17th tour. In a 20-kilometer freestyle pursuit race in Oberstdorf, the 26-year-old clinched his fourth victory of the day after 41:35.8 minutes and is now just one win away from Ustyugow, who celebrated five victories in 2016/2017.

Behind Klaebo, who leads the overall standings and is on the verge of his third Tour victory, his compatriot Sindre Björnestad Skar and the Italian Federico Pellegrino finished on the other podium places.

Friedrich Moch was again the best German after Albert Kuchler retired due to health reasons. The runner from Isny fought his way into the top group with the best run time (40:25.5 minutes), led them at times and finished 15th, 6.7 seconds behind Klaebo. This put him in tenth place overall. The other German runners did not finish in the top 30.

The fifth stage will be held on Friday in Val di Fiemme, Italy.
