The Detroit Lions unexpectedly beat the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, giving them another chance to make the playoffs.

The team around the German-American Amon-Ra St. Brown beat the favorites 34:23 and inflicted only the third defeat of the season on the Vikings. The Lions are now on six wins and seven losses and are within wildcard ranks for the NFL playoffs with four games left.

St. Brown caught six passes for a total of 68 yards. Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw three touchdown passes and failed to throw to the opponent. The Vikings will have to wait at least a week because of the loss before they can secure their playoff spot.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles became the first team in the league to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Eagles went 48-22 against division rivals the New York Giants.
