Superstar LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to an important away win in the NBA and is only 63 points away from the points record in the world’s top basketball league.
The Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers 112-111 (54-67) after being behind most of the game. James gave the Lakers their first lead with two and a half minutes left and ended up with 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar currently holds the NBA record with 38,387 points.
Anthony Davis scored the decisive basket and the center contributed 31 points and 14 rebounds to the Lakers’ 25th win of the season, just one win short of playoff spots. The German national team captain Dennis Schröder had twelve points, five assists and six rebounds.
The Dallas Mavericks beat the New Orleans Pelicans 111-106 despite an injury to star player Luka Doncic. By the time he was eliminated, Doncic had scored 31 points and given the Mavericks a comfortable lead. But after a hard fall on a dunk in the third quarter, he couldn’t play any further. New Orleans then reduced the gap from 27 to four points in the meantime, but in the end conceded their tenth loss in a row. At the top of the Western Conference are the Denver Nuggets, who defeated champions Golden State Warriors 134-117.
Thanks in part to Isaiah Hartenstein, the New York Knicks beat the Miami Heat 106-104. The German national player, who ended up with eight points and ten rebounds, had a decisive part in the victory with a successful dunk and a ball win in the final minute.
