The New York Knicks with the German professional Isaiah Hartenstein have won a surprising victory in the fight for the playoffs in the NBA.

The Knicks won at home in Madison Square Garden against the Philadelphia 76ers with star player Joel Embiid 108:97 (51:53). Hartenstein had two points and a strong 14 rebounds in around 26 minutes of play. The team from New York is seventh in the Eastern Conference, the best basketball league in the world, while the 76ers are third.

The Denver Nuggets lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 98-128 (43-63). The best team in the Western Conference, however, had to do without several players – including Serbian star Nikola Jokic, who, according to the league, was missing with a hamstring injury.

The Orlando Magic had previously been successful on Sunday with the German national basketball players Franz and Moritz Wagner. The Florida team won 119-113 against the Charlotte Hornets. Franz Wagner had 14 points and six rebounds, his older brother Moritz scored eight points.
