The German team relay won gold at the end of the luge world championships in Oberhof thanks to a strong run by the doubles Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken.
Anna Berreiter, Max Langenhan and Eggert/Benecken won in a total time of 2:22.266 minutes, just ahead of the Austrian team (0.023 seconds). Third was Latvia, with a clear gap of four tenths.
Meanwhile, Felix Loch has missed out on the world championship title in the single-seater. When the Austrian Jonas Müller (1:25.478 minutes) won in the single-seater, the man from Berchtesgaden only finished fourth (0.145). Team colleague Langenhan (BRC Friedrichroda/ 0.104) won the silver medal. Third was Müller’s teammate David Gleirscher (0.121).
This meant that for the first time no German luger was on top of the podium on the last day of the World Championships. On Friday, the 33-year-old Loch triumphed as he raced to his 14th world title in the sprint race. Langenhan (23) finished third.
