Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has given the all-clear after the injury to his superstar Kylian Mbappé. “It’s nothing serious. I think he’ll be available again soon,” said the 53-year-old after the 4-0 win against Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1.
Mbappé was substituted after just over half an hour of the game. Enrique was initially unable to give an exact diagnosis after the game. “We don’t know for sure at the moment.”
PSG are opponents of Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, but the second leg is not due until mid-December. BVB lost the first leg 0-2 last week. Enrique described the substitution of his superstar as a precautionary measure. “It’s better not to take risks when a player is not at 100 percent,” he said. The 24-year-old Frenchman “received a blow that really hurt. He tried to keep going, but the pain was too great.”
In Mbappé’s absence, former Frankfurt player Randal Kolo Muani scored his first goal for PSG (37th minute). The other goals were scored by ex-Dortmunder Achraf Hakimi (8th) and the Portuguese Gonçalo Ramos (47th/89th), who came on for Mbappé. With their victory in Ligue 1, Paris is now third, two points behind leaders Stade Brest. “It was a magical and unforgettable game,” said Kolo Muani after his debut goal. “We can be proud of ourselves.” The French international moved from Frankfurt to Paris for 95 million euros shortly before the end of the transfer period.
