The German men’s national hockey team remains in the running at the World Cup in India in the fight for direct entry into the quarter-finals.
The DHB selection achieved a 2:2 (1:1) against world champion and Olympic champion Belgium in the second group game and is therefore tied with the defending champion in second place with 4 points before the final game on Friday against South Korea (2:30 p.m. / DAZN).
After being 1-0 down, Niklas Wellen from Krefeld equalized (22nd minute) before Tom Grambusch made it 2-1 with a penalty (52nd). Almost in return, Victor Wegnez made it 2-2 for the Belgians. In order to still be top of the group, the German team has to win the last game by three goals more than Belgium against Japan, otherwise the team of national coach André Henning has to go into the “crossover” round.
