Triple world champion Max Verstappen also set the fastest lap in the final training session of Formula 1 before the Grand Prix in Mexico.

The Red Bull driver relegated the surprisingly strong Williams driver Alexander Albon to second place with a lead of 0.070 seconds. Third in Mexico City was Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull. Verstappen had also left the competition behind in the first two training sessions.

Nico Hülkenberg didn’t get past 16th place in the Haas at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. On Sunday, the 36-year-old became the fourth German racing driver to reach the mark of 200 Formula 1 race starts.

The World Cup has already been decided since the beginning of the month. Verstappen already secured his third title in a row in Qatar. With another victory in Mexico, the 26-year-old would surpass his win record from last year and would have already won 16 World Championship races this season.
