Formula 1 fans can expect a turbulent Miami Grand Prix. Last year’s winner Max Verstappen has to catch up from ninth place in the Red Bull this Sunday (9:30 p.m. CEST / Sky).

Team-mate Sergio Pérez, who is only six points behind the two-time title holder in the championship standings, took pole position on Saturday.

Due to an accident by Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari, Verstappen didn’t get a chance to counter the fast lap of his Mexican rival. Verstappen made a mistake on his own first attempt in the decisive phase.

Alongside Pérez, Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin will form the front row, followed by his Spanish compatriot Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari. Fourth is Kevin Magnussen in the Haas. His German teammate, Nico Hülkenberg, did not get past twelfth place in the knockout elimination. Rain or thunderstorms could also cause further drama in the fifth race of the season in Miami.
