Benjamin Pavard shot France to their next win in EURO qualifiers with a superb goal.
Thanks to the goal of the FC Bayern Munich defender, the World Cup runners-up in Dublin beat hosts Ireland 1-0 (0-0). After a mistake in the Irish defence, Pavard hit the bar with a powerful shot in the 50th minute.
Thanks to the goals of two Bundesliga professionals, the Austrians also achieved their second success in qualifying for the 2024 tournament in Germany. Florian Kainz (68th) from 1. FC Köln and Freiburg’s Michael Gregoritsch (88th) ensured the 2-1 (0-1) win against Estonia in Linz. Rauno Sappinen (25th) had given the guests the lead.
Poland and the Netherlands also get victories
Poland got their first win under new national coach Fernando Santos. Karol Swiderski (41st) scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 (1-0) win over Albania. The Dutch were also able to celebrate their first success in qualifying after losing 4-0 to France. There was a 3:0 (1:0) against outsider Gibraltar. Memphis Depay (23rd) and Nathan Aké (50th/82nd) scored the goals for coach Ronald Koeman’s team. After a red card for Liam Walker, Gibraltar had to play outnumbered from the 51st minute.
