RB Leipzig has expressly warned its fans about the dangers of the away game against Red Star Belgrade.
The club called on its supporters not to wear their fan paraphernalia conspicuously around the city around the Champions League game in the evening (9 p.m./DAZN). In addition, you should only use authorized taxis and exchange money at official locations. Around 500 Leipzig fans will be in the stadium.
The club also links to a fan guide for Belgrade created by an RB supporter, which reports on the experiences of Young Boys Bern fans. Taxi drivers charged excessive fares and allegedly extorted payment by force of arms. It also happened that the passengers were not dropped off at the desired location. Belgrade played against Bern at the beginning of October, the game ended 2-2. RB fans will now be taken from the center to the stadium by shuttle buses.
The club itself is also taking precautionary measures within its own ranks. The U19s, who will play in the Youth League with Belgrade’s youth team in the afternoon at 4 p.m., will attend the professional game in the evening. According to a report by “Bild”, the players should not appear in RB clothing, but in civilian clothes.
Spectator penalty for Red Star Belgrade
Red Star was fined a spectator penalty by UEFA for the game against Leipzig. Because Ultras paid homage to an attack by Serbian extremists on the police in the Kosovo village of Banjska with choreography in the game against Bern, a maximum of 45,000 instead of over 50,000 fans are allowed into the stadium. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo’s autonomy and demands the return of the province with a majority Albanian population.
Around the first leg in Leipzig, things remained relatively quiet for the over 2,000 Red Star fans who had traveled with them. In the fan block, the supporters fought among themselves. Outside the stadium there was damage to property, physical injuries and violations of the Explosives Act. There was also theft from a supermarket. The police were deployed with 800 officers because of the violent Belgrade fan scene.
