RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose raves about his mental strength before meeting his ex-striker Erling Haaland again. He admires his mentality the most, said Rose before the Champions League round of 16 against Haaland and Manchester City.

“When he sees a goal he goes crazy to score,” said Rose. The 46-year-old coached the Norwegian in Salzburg and Dortmund. On Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN) he has to adjust his team to the attacker.

Leipzig a favorite opponent

After moving to England last summer, Haaland took another step forward. “He’s improved his game, his technique, his movement. He’s now playing for one of the best teams in the world and he’s going to be world class for sure,” said Rose. The 22-year-old has scored 32 goals in 31 games for Man City so far. Leipzig is one of his favorite opponents with six goals in four duels.

Haaland is difficult to calculate for RB playmaker Emil Forsberg. “You can’t mentally prepare for a player like that. Of course everyone is looking at how to defend him. But if you want to have a chance, it’s only possible as a team,” said the Sweden international.
