He was European champion, five-time Champions League winner and World Player of the Year several times. In the future, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will earn his money at Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia.

The club announced on Friday evening that they had signed the 37-year-old. Nothing was initially known about the contract period, local media reported a two or even two and a half year term. There was also no information on other contract content. It was previously speculated about payments totaling up to 300 million euros. Al-Nassr FC is likely to be the last professional station of “CR7”. From a sporting point of view, the move to Saudi Arabia may be a relegation, but Ronaldo will have his possible end to his career there.

The signing of the superstar is a real coup for the Riyadh club. “History is being written here,” said those responsible. The signing will “inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls, to be the best version of themselves.”

The 196-time Portugal international was last sorted out at Manchester United. The World Cup in Qatar also ended in disappointment for Ronaldo. Portugal were eliminated by outsiders Morocco in the quarter-finals, and Ronaldo was no longer a regular in the tournament. Nevertheless, the 2016 European champion still sees a future for himself in the national team.
