Borussia Dortmund announced that Modeste underwent groin surgery on Wednesday evening. The 35-year-old, who had shown disappointing performances in the black and yellow jersey for long stretches after his move in the summer, has therefore been suffering from problems in the groin area “for a few weeks”. These would have “hindered him in training and in the last games before the World Cup break”.
As a result of the operation, Modeste will miss the trip to Asia starting next week, including the planned friendlies in Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia. However, BVB did not name an exact downtime.
