Sports director Simon Rolfes has ruled out departures from Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen this winter and thus also a transfer of defender Jonathan Tah.
Recently there were media reports about defending champion Bayern Munich’s alleged interest in the 27-year-old national player. “Everyone is staying. We won’t be giving away any players in the winter,” Rolfes told “Kicker”.
Coach Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team is still unbeaten this season, and the team also includes defender Josip Stanisic, who is on loan from Bayern. The current second-place team from Munich, on the other hand, is expected to be missing South Korean Minjae Kim on defense in January because of their participation in the Asian Championship. The currently injured Moroccan Noussair Mazraoui will then be considered for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Bayer team is also affected by layoffs; the top game against FC Bayern will take place on February 10th in Leverkusen.
