National soccer player Benjamin Henrichs is looking forward to the Bundesliga top game of his club RB Leipzig on Friday (8.30 p.m. / DAZN) at Borussia Dortmund with joy and excitement.
In a “Sky” interview, Henrichs said that it was because of such games that he started playing football. “It’s a brutal feeling. There’s always a good atmosphere in Dortmund. We want to perform like last year. BVB have a series, that will be a difficult task. I expect an open game,” said the defensive all-rounder and emphasized that RB wanted to take the three points from Dortmund.
Henrichs praises Rose and Eberl
The 26-year-old, who came to Leipzig from AS Monaco in 2020, particularly praised RB coach Marco Rose. “Team spirit and team spirit are extremely important here under Marco Rose. The coach always emphasizes that every player is important. Marco talks a lot to us players and especially to the team council. He seeks dialogue and pays attention to details, which helps us,” said Henrichs.
He also likes the work of sports manager Max Eberl. “I’ve also talked to Max Eberl about topics outside of football. You can tell he’s there because he often watches our training sessions on the pitch. It’s a good feeling when you know that he cares about the team takes care.”
Under Rose’s predecessor Domenico Tedesco, Henrichs was only used to a limited extent in the first phase of the first half of the season, which led to speculation about a winter transfer. Henrichs disagreed. “A change in winter wasn’t an issue for me because I wanted to accept the challenge here.”
He wants to fight and prove to the coach “that I have the necessary quality,” said the seven-time international. “I’ve already made a few appearances in the second half of the season. I have to confirm that because we’re always very competitive.”
