For record national soccer player Lothar Matthäus, the move from Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund is a good transfer.
“If Sancho brings his performance back, the BVB team can be shaken up. And if the numbers are right, Borussia Dortmund isn’t taking any big financial risks,” said the 62-year-old on Sky.
The English international from Manchester United moved to the Bundesliga club on loan until the summer. According to media speculation, the commitment of the 23-year-old attacker, who is under contract in Manchester until June 30, 2026, will cost a total of around four million euros. Sancho played for BVB from 2017 to 2021 and moved to the island for 85 million euros.
“If Jadon Sancho were to come back the way he left BVB in 2021, it would be a welcome reunion. Not just for Borussia Dortmund, but for the entire Bundesliga,” says Matthäus.
BVB coach Edin Terzic expects quick help from the returnee Sancho. “I told him what I want, what I need, what he can expect from us. We are ready to give him the chance to show that he can do it again, that he is far from finished. But “I don’t have time, he doesn’t have time, we don’t have time,” Terzic told the TV channel Sky. Terzic did not say whether Sancho would be in the starting line-up for the away game in Hoffenheim on Saturday.
