Thomas Müller will start for FC Bayern Munich in the top Bundesliga game against 1. FC Union Berlin. This was announced by coach Julian Nagelsmann.
“He is very professional and someone I trust,” assured Nagelsmann. “Its importance is huge because it goes beyond just playing.” Müller was recently substituted after 16 minutes in the 2-3 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach for tactical reasons after an early red card against Dayot Upamecano. In the 1-0 win in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, the 33-year-old only came on in the 75th minute. Nagelsmann admitted that Müller was not happy with his situation.
Mané vor Kader-Comeback
Striker Sadio Mané is about to make his comeback. After a long injury lay-off, the Senegalese returns to the Munich squad for the home game on Sunday (5:30 p.m.). A use in the starting eleven comes too early, said Nagelsmann. The summer signing from Liverpool FC injured his fibula head on November 8th in FC Bayern’s 6-1 win against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and had to undergo surgery.
Forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had some neck problems. Offensive player Kingsley Coman was recently able to train after problems with his calf and ankle.
It’s “about leading the table, it’s about putting a direct competitor back at a distance,” said Nagelsmann before the duel with the strong Berliners. Only thanks to the better goal difference are the Munich leaders in front of the pursuers Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin who have the same number of points.
