Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel praised national soccer player Leroy Sané as a “machine” after his next gala performance in the home win against SC Freiburg.

The winger, together with double goalscorer Kingsley Coman, was Munich’s driving force in the 3-0 victory and scored his sixth goal of the season.

“It has a lot to do with his well-being,” said Tuchel, explaining the consistently good form of 27-year-old Sané. “He can dominate opponents, make the difference – and he does. He is extremely talented and has the physical abilities for it. He is a machine.” Tuchel and Sané – this connection also seems to fit. “We have a connection with each other,” said the coach: “We also demand a lot from him.”

New contract in planning

That’s what Sané delivers. “Physically he is in great shape, he really enjoys playing every three days,” said sports director Christoph Freund. “We all know that he is a really good kicker. But the fact that he delivers with such consistency is unusual and of course a lot of fun.”

Sané is contractually bound to the Munich team until June 30, 2025. The new contract will be addressed soon. “We will certainly have discussions in the next few weeks. He is an exceptionally good player and a key player for Bayern Munich,” said Freund. “It would certainly be nice if he stayed in Munich for a long time.”
