The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with head coach Matt Rhule after a poor start to the NFL season. As an interim solution, the team named Steve Wilks, who was previously responsible for defensive tasks in the coaching team. The Panthers have just one win after five games in the National Football League.
On Sunday there was a 15:37 against the San Francisco 49ers – which featured quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, whose signing the Panthers have not pursued in favor of Baker Mayfield when the opportunity arose in recent months. However, Mayfield has had a poor season so far and was also injured on Sunday.
Rhule was in his third season as the Panthers head coach. During that time, he won just 11 of 38 games and failed to fulfill hopes of a rebound.
