Ski racer Linus Straßer missed the hoped-for medal in slalom at the end of the Alpine World Championships in France. The winter athlete from TSV 1860 Munich only finished ninth in Courchevel.

Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen won gold, working his way up the field from 16th place with an excellent second run. Silver surprisingly went to the Greek AJ Ginnis, bronze to the Italian Alex Vinatzer.

Straßer’s teammate Sebastian Holzmann, who has never finished in the top ten in the World Cup, came in strong fifth. Austrian Manuel Feller dropped from first to seventh place in the second round. Austria ended the World Cup without a gold medal.

The German Ski Association (DSV) leaves the title fights in France with two medals: Alexander Schmid triumphed on Wednesday in the parallel competition with gold, Lena Dürr won bronze in the women’s slalom on Saturday.
