Manuel Feller also won the World Cup slalom in Wengen. The ski racer from Austria could not be beaten in the classic and relegated Atle Lie McGrath from Norway (0.10 seconds) and his compatriot Henrik Kristoffersen (0.21) to the other places.
Feller won his third slalom this winter and extended his lead in the discipline rankings. The 31-year-old also celebrated at the start of the season in Gurgl and a week ago in Adelboden.
The only German athlete in the points was Sebastian Holzmann in 14th place (1.73). The 30-year-old athlete from Allgäu made up seven places in the second round, but missed an even better placement due to a weaker final section. “I blew it in the finish,” he said on ZDF, but was otherwise satisfied.
“Of course extremely bitter”
Linus Straßer wanted to fight for victory in the Bernese Oberland and had the best time in the first run shortly before the finish line. But then the 31-year-old intervened and was eliminated. “It’s obviously extremely bitter. I’m in such a good mood and feel so good,” complained the Munich native.
He announced that he would attack again next Sunday at the slalom classic in Kitzbühel. Anton Tremmel, the third DSV athlete in the goal run in Wengen, was also eliminated in the first round.
