Second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf remains within striking distance of the promotion places in the lower house after a 3-1 (2-0) win against Eintracht Braunschweig. Karlsruher SC also landed a home win at the start of the 22nd matchday and beat Jahn Regensburg 1-0 (1-0).

Dawid Kownacki after just over 40 seconds, Christoph Klarer (25th) and substitute Jona Niemiec (85th) scored the goals for Düsseldorf with his first professional goal. Rouwen Hennings (18th) failed with a miserable penalty shot at Braunschweig keeper Jasmin Fejzic.

With 35 points, the Fortune jumped to fifth place, at least for one night. After the third defeat in a row this weekend, Braunschweig could even fall back into the relegation zone in the worst case with 21 points.
