The southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa has come under fire again. According to local media reports, explosions were heard in the city during the night. The air defense was active.
Russia had already launched airstrikes in the Odessa region on the Black Sea on Tuesday night. The Defense Ministry in Moscow later confirmed the attacks. The goal was therefore a shipyard for the production of remote-controlled combat boats and a base for these drones. Russia accuses Ukraine of using such boats on Monday to attack and damage the bridge to the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which has been illegally occupied since 2014. The military information could not be independently verified.
Russia has been waging a war of aggression against neighboring Ukraine for almost 17 months. The southern regions on the Black Sea, which are of great importance for Ukraine due to their port infrastructure, are also repeatedly the target of Russian shelling. Millions of tons of food have been exported through the port of Odessa in recent months as part of the international grain agreement. On Monday, Russia withdrew from the agreement.
