The decision of the Capitol Attack Committee of Inquiry to recommend prosecuting Donald Trump comes as no surprise. In a year and a half, members amassed what appeared to be an overwhelming amount of evidence, interviewed witnesses and amassed hundreds of thousands of pages of material. The recommendation is historic — and supported by seven Democrats and two Republicans across party lines. Trump is said to have violated four federal laws after losing the election in November 2020. On January 6, 2021, the situation escalated with the storming of the Capitol. The images shook the country. And the whole world.
