The “New York Times”, developed in collaboration with journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, the so-called “1619 Project” and building on these, a curriculum for schools. The project conceptualises the American history and sets it to the beginning rather than to the year 1776, in 1619, the year by African slaves arrived, for the first time in a colony in Virginia.
The focus should be placed upon the consequences of slavery and also the involvement of black Americans. “We believe that it is important to understand for American students the truth about the history of their country,” said a spokesman for the Times.
As the “Arkensas Democrat Gazette” reported, the project has met with not at all on the consent. While some critics accuse him, for example, colonial views of slavery misrepresent, the US Senator Tom Cotton is still a step.
He is now planning a law, the financial consequences for all schools would threaten the “1619 Project” teaching. If the “Saving American History Act of 2020” is approved, it would be affected schools for the professional development Fund to qualify. Furthermore, additional funds from the state would be reduced somewhat. “It would be a lot of money, but even a penny would be too much for the ‘1619 Prejekt’ in our schools,” said Cotton.

Senator of the project referred to as “left Propaganda”
He based this decision on the fact that the project was a distortion of American history. The “1619 Project” is more Propaganda of the left wing, and America would be as “corrupt, corrupt and racist country”.
For him to be the US is not inherently racist, but a “great and noble country that, on the assumption that all people are equal, builds”. There are always problems implement this principle, but no other country do more for them.
Cotton says that should be the role played by slavery in American history, under-estimate: “As the founding fathers said, it was the necessary Evil through which the country was built, but it was built so that, as Lincoln said that slavery must eventually die out.”
To those who cling still to the “1619 Project” and teach it want is Tom Cotton, the following words: “If schools want to fill the children’s heads with anti-American garbage, that’s your unfortunate decision. But you may not benefit from the taxpayers ‘ money to America’s children, America teach hate.“
is Not the first scandal of Cotton
Senator Cotton has already caught the beginning of June, a guest post in the “New York Times” caused a stir. In it, he criticized the nationwide “Black Lives Matter”protests sharply. He referred to them as “violence orgies” and demanded, as the title “Dispatches suggests the troops” against the protesters hard used needed to be.
Due to the massive criticism that the article triggered, explained to the newspaper two days later that it’s Standard according to your a journalist and not in his way would have been allowed to be published. Even if cotton’s opinion, constituted a part of the current debate, don’t be examined of the article to be hard and in fact. Furthermore, the context is lacking to him adequately in the discussion to classify it. As a response to the guest post, the responsible Editor James Bennet resigned.
