The Guardian reported Saturday that a treasure trove of hundreds upon pages of documents relating to the relationship between an American businesswoman, and the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson during his time as London mayor, could be a new source of trouble for the beleaguered politician.
According to the newspaper, officials are receiving notes and documents, including emails, following a request by the Greater London Authority. This authority is investigating whether Johnson used his position of mayor to “benefit” Jennifer Arcuri .
Arcuri, a California-based tech entrepreneur who founded the Innotech Network as well as consulting company Hacker House, was reportedly granted special access to key contacts and some $170,000 worth of grants while she lived in London. She is believed to be cooperating in a London tandem probe into possible Johnson criminal misconduct.
The Observer reported that Johnson had allegedly ignored staff’s advice when he was London’s mayor in order to support Arcuri’s business interests.
The Guardian reported that Arcuri has offered “hundreds of new pages of notes and texts to investigators to chronicle her affair with Johnson. Johnson was mayor of London between 2008 and 2016. Marina Wheeler, his second wife, was his first of three wives at the time. Boris never confessed to having an affair with Arcuri.
The Guardian was informed by the GLA that investigators were “continuing with information to assess Johnson’s dealings in Arcuri” and would report their findings “in due time.”
Arcuri claimed that she had given Johnson a set of diary pages from her affair. She said she was trying to lure her with business deals. ” How do I become the thrust, and the throttle as you make your profession?” Arcuri claimed Johnson asked her. Ware reported in Guardian, quoting her written comments.
Arcuri suggested that it was not sex that earned her valuable contacts and income but her persistence (see the video clip at the top).
These revelations are yet another problem for Johnson who is already under severe fire for reckless Downing Street partyingduring a COVID-19 lockdown in UK — even as the country and queen were still mourning the passing of Prince Philip last year.
The Prime Minister’s or his office did not immediately respond to the Arcuri news.
