It certainly does no harm for the Greens to have someone like Omid Nouripour at the helm of the party in these times. He is friendly, funny, basically gets along with everyone and, above all, he polarizes less than Ricarda Lang, with whom the 47-year-old has shared the presidency of the Greens for nine months. Nouripour, on the other hand, is the green diplomat. In 15 years in the Bundestag, the experienced foreign politician learned what it takes to tie threads of conversation, open channels and settle disputes. He can now exercise these skills in several places. Because in these already warlike days it is a matter of saving two more peaces at the same time: the coalition peace and the party peace.
