If there were a federal election on Sunday, the Greens might no longer make it into government. According to the current RTL/ntv trend barometer, the party loses one point in approval, but falls to twelve percent – the lowest value since June 2018. The Union is the most popular. 31 percent of those surveyed would vote for the Christian Democrats, one percentage point more than last week. The values of the SPD (16 percent), AfD (17 percent), FDP (5 percent), BSW (5 percent) and the other parties (together 14 percent) remain unchanged.
If the Germans were allowed to elect a chancellor, 22 percent would choose the CDU candidate in the Scholz – Merz – Habeck constellation. Then follow Green Party politician Habeck (18 percent) and Social Democrat Scholz (17 percent). In the Scholz – Bearbock – Merz constellation, a quarter of those surveyed would vote for the CDU leader. 17 percent would choose Baerbock and 20 percent would choose Olaf Scholz.
German citizens are currently most concerned about the war in Ukraine (56 percent). Slightly less than half consider the level of support for the country to be appropriate. On the other hand, around a quarter of those surveyed think that the federal government is involved too much or too little in the war.
More than half of those surveyed believe that the West should persuade the Ukrainian government to negotiate with Russia to end the war. The majority of people who share this opinion come from East Germany (68 percent) and are supporters of the AfD (80 percent) or the BSW (81 percent). The majority of Green Party supporters (61 percent) believe that the West should not pressure Ukraine into peace negotiations with Russia. The SPD camps. The FDP and the Union are divided on the issue.
