The similarities are obvious: for months, the right-wing extremist President Jair Bolsonaro had attacked the legality of the elections – like Trump in the USA. He had never accepted his opponent’s election victory – like Trump in the USA. Like Trump, he had refused a democratic transition and thus signaled to his supporters that the successor government was illegitimate.
Even before the transfer of power, Bolsonaro simply took off – to the USA, to Florida.
