In protest against what he saw as the wrong diet, a masked man in Greifswald is said to have taped the locks of fast-food shops and restaurants with superglue.
After his arrest on Monday morning, the 32-year-old described himself as a climate activist and supporter of veganism, the police said. At least ten shops and restaurants were affected by the campaign. The shops were also smeared with political slogans. It is said to have been about criticism of the current food policy, as a police spokeswoman said.
Police say they arrested the man after a brief pursuit. He had previously behaved conspicuously in the city center. The police suspect him of having planned further damage to property. As of Monday morning, he was still in police custody to prevent further crimes. The state protection of the Anklam Criminal Police Inspectorate took over the investigation.
