Oleksiy Arestovych, 48, has been an advisor in the Ukrainian presidential office under Volodymyr Zelensky since 2020. After the Russian attack in February 2022, he became popular across the country with his reports on the course of the war. In January 2023, he resigned from his post after conflicts with Zelensky’s entourage and has since then appeared as a political commentator. He left Ukraine at the beginning of September and now lives in Europe and the USA. He accuses the country’s political leadership of politically persecuting him. Now Arestovych is causing discussions with his announcement of a presidential candidacy, strong criticism of President Zelensky and his own peace plan – and not just in Ukraine.
