For a week now, the kingdom seemed to have landed in a remake of “Groundhog Day”: It was again about Brexit and Northern Ireland and borders in the Irish Sea or elsewhere. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and EU President Ursula von der Leyen negotiated behind closed doors for days. As a precaution, the Protestant members of the Northern Irish DUP party nervously announced their skepticism. And to make matters worse, a certain Boris Johnson tried to stir up feelings against his successor Sunak and the deal he had worked out, whatever the outcome.
