I often see messages and images about Gaza or Ukraine on social media – some of them computer-generated fakes. Is this already part of hybrid warfare? Disinformation campaigns are just one of the many tools of hybrid warfare, albeit an effective one – with digitally generated photos or real ones that are placed in a different context. The attacks work across national borders and the identity of the perpetrator is concealed. It’s about influencing the interpretation of certain events.
